Starbucks to enter the metaverse this year

Published

on

Howard Schultz, the billionaire entrepreneur and CEO of Starbucks, revealed at an open discussion on April 4 that the business intends to enter the metaverse by the end of 2022. A few hours later, the corporation confirmed the information.

According to him, the chain has the resources and knowledge needed to establish itself in the virtual ecosystem. While Schultz could not provide a specific date for the company’s entry into the NFT realm, he stated that it would happen “sometime before the end of this calendar year.”

“I can’t think of a single company, brand, celebrity, or influencer that is seeking to build a digital NFT platform and business that has the treasure trove of assets that Starbucks has, from collectibles to the full corporate estate.”

With Schultz’s new position as CEO, Starbucks could become even more crypto-friendly. It’s worth noting that other mainstream corporations are not just funding NFT drops. They are also creating new crypto experiences like metaverse stores and cooperation with other crypto projects. Along with this statement, Howard also disclosed another significant announcement: Starbucks will cease its stock repurchase program in favor of investing in its partners and shops.

Starbucks is not merely a beverage brand, as Schultz pointed out in his speech, but also a firm with years of tradition, history, and collectibles located all over the world, which a digital artist alone could not match. In other words, if the company gets its act together, it has the potential to become one of the world’s largest NFT markets. Starbucks is valued at $96.7 billion, while OpenSea, a non-financial technology marketplace created in 2017, is already valued at more than $13.3 billion. As a result, it’s unsurprising that huge corporations want to begin investing in these emerging technologies.

When it comes to generating commercial opportunities relating to NFTs and the metaverse, Citi has recently stated that this market might represent a $13 trillion opportunity in the coming years.

Planet of Cyborgs disrupts the NFT world

Published

on

Planet of Cyborgs is a dystopian-themed collection of junkyard cyborgs made from the ruins of human civilization on a barren planet. PoC, which combines 3D and clipart elements, gives off a cyberpunk vibe while employing a completely unique plot.

The artwork began with hand-drawn sketches of the Base Model, and then progressed to vector-based software to contour the core traits. These core traits were then utilized to create the project’s Elite and Vizier cyborgs.

“We used Adobe Creative Suite to accessorize the original 22 cyborgs, making them the first to have any of the traits later used in the code-generated cyborgs. Each of the 6,622 pieces on display has a completely unique cyborg tag that identifies the traits used in the character’s composition as well as their shade.”

On the project’s various social media platforms, an announcement will be made when it is time to make the Planet of Cyborgs Collection available to the general public

“HAZ Base Model is the Machine’s magnum opus and the start of a new civilization whose power has depleted the stars and conquered space. Base inherited the creator’s full power and was given the task of creating others like himself and conquering worlds that could become a new home for cyborgs. The Base Model exists in each of its subjects’ minds and employs their unique abilities to further their ultimate goal. His Viziers and the Elite alike respect him as the leader of cyborgs.”

The team’s goal is to design the perfect interactive environment that holders can immerse themselves in and use to accumulate additional crypto assets in the future. They also have exciting plans to create an animated Cyborgs in Motion collection at some point in the future. Owners of Cyborg will be entitled to a pre-sale and special discounts on additional NFTs, in addition to receiving a complimentary additional NFT.

The winning bid for the team’s favorite autographed Cyborg “Harajuku” will be donated to the charity of the community members’ choice. Users seeking additional information can obtain it by joining the company’s accounts on Discord, Instagram, and Twitter.

Microsoft teams with Kawasaki for the metaverse

Published

on

Microsoft made the announcement that Kawasaki had become its new customer on Tuesday, May 24, 2022. As both giants had recently expanded their businesses to include the metaverse industry, their upcoming collaboration has all the makings to be fruitful.

Augmented reality is created by superimposing computer-generated imagery over a live view of the physical world, and HoloLens was the first product of its kind to be commercially available in 2016

In the context of Microsoft’s industrial metaverse, this entails bringing together a number of the company’s technologies, such as cloud computing, to assist factory workers and managers in constructing products in a manner that is both quicker and more effective.

The goal is to develop what Microsoft refers to as a “digital twin” of the workspace, which can facilitate the acceleration of processes such as the initiation of new production lines and the completion of repairs.

HoloLens can be used to chat with workers on site and guide them through the repair process with visual cues from augmented reality. For instance, instead of calling a repair person to come to the factory to fix a broken part, this can be accomplished by guiding workers through the process themselves with the help of HoloLens.

It also gives managers the ability to use this technology to increase new production if it is required, which is something that Microsoft offers as a solution to problems with supply chains.

As a manufacturing partner, Kawasaki joins the likes of Heinz, who just recently announced that they would be using Microsoft’s industrial metaverse in a soy sauce factory, as well as Boeing. In spite of the fact that it may appear to be a joke, it is something that customers of Microsoft are requesting as excitement grows about the concept of the metaverse.
