At its inaugural meeting in a metaverse, Turkey leading political party discussed the imminent regulation of crypto-currencies.
On Monday, Turkey’s ruling Ak Party conducted its first meeting in the metaverse, where it addressed forthcoming crypto-currency regulations.
According to Cointelegraph Turkey, the Turkish Grand National Assembly (TBMM) had its maiden meeting in the metaverse. Mahir Ünal and Mustafa Elitaş, TBMM vice presidents, as well as mer leri, Ak Party vice president for information and communication technology, joined the virtual meeting.
Elitaş was physically present at the meeting from the Parliament building. Meanwhile, Ünal and leri were in the Ak Party (AKP) headquarters. Ünal told the state-run AA news agency that the meeting’s centerpiece was the regulation of crypto-currencies. While adding that crypto-currencies require financial and legal rules.
Elitaş, who recently hosted a conference with representatives of the Turkish crypto community at TBMM, has emphasized that avoiding the virtual world is impossible. “I believe metaverse-based gatherings will swiftly improve and become an integral part of our lives,” he continued.
Binance Turkey fined.
On Thursday, Elitaş is also scheduled to meet with Binance Turkey. The company received a 8 million Turkish lira fine (about $600,000) for failing an anti-money laundering compliance examination, as previously reported.
Turkey has escalated its metaverse initiatives as blockchain technology has enabled digital ownership, according to leri. He anticipated that the metaverse, which he sees as an embryonic but quickly emerging field, would have a large impact on many businesses in the future.
leri stated that the metaverse is open to the creation of virtual reality, product management, and creative business models. And that AKP wishes to pave the path for a metaverse ecosystem.
leri contended that digital and technology advancements had legal, economic, and societal implications. He stated that the AKP is trying to implement policies addressing crypto-assets and social media in order to protect individuals while also enhancing Turkey’s innovative skills.
