According to UK media, Meta Platforms Inc, the parent company of the recently relaunched Facebook, is poised to begin research for its Project Aria augmented reality (AR) smart glasses in London in order to build the next generation of Metaverse products.
The Menlo Park-based business will begin testing its smart glasses in London in order to develop new products. The HMDs will collect data from the surroundings via their many sensors, such as hand and eye tracking, location, and audiovisual data.
According to the Evening Standard, the cameras used for Project Aria will obscure the faces of pedestrians in order to protect their privacy. Researchers testing the augmented reality gear will be required to wear high-visibility gilets in order to be identified.

The announcement comes only days after Meta’s CEO and Founder, Mark Zuckerberg, teased fans with a blurry prototype of his company’s Project Cambria mixed reality (MR) headset.
Using numerous immersive experiences from The World Beyond, Meta’s chief executive demonstrated the device’s Presence Platform, which allows for MR immersive experiences with digital overlays over the actual world.
Other sources claim that the multinational technology company also submitted approximately ten trademark applications to the United States Patent and Trademark Office in the hopes of constructing a cryptocurrency platform known as Meta Pay. This platform would, among other things, include non-fungible tokens and numerous approved crypto wallets.
Nick Clegg, Meta’s President of Global Affairs, reaffirmed the company’s ambition for an interoperable and secure Metaverse, which includes networking, hardware, and immersive experiences, to create a successor to the Internet that protects future users from dangerous content. This ambition is part of the company’s larger goal to create a platform that is safe for users in the future.
