Nakamigos Tops NFT Charts After $10 Million in Weekly Sales

Nakamigos non-fungible tokens (NFTs) saw above-average sales during Easter Week and surpassed many mainstream digital collections by becoming the project with the most sales from April 3 to 9.

NFTs from the collection saw more than a 30% rise in sales during Easter Week, resulting in approximately $10 million in volume over the period, data from NFT data aggregator CryptoSlam shows.

Nakamigos NFTs achieved this milestone despite the number of unique buyers dropping by over 38% to 3,737 while sales also fell by over 35% to 4,002. The number of total transactions within the period descended by 26% to a little over 7,000.

Despite these metrics, the relatively higher daily average sale values resulted positively in the fortunes of the collection and saw it take hold of a position usually occupied by so-called mainstream NFT projects.

An unlikely NFT league leader

Nakamigos was designed by HiFo Labs but this team does not have the same standing in the NFT sector as Yuga Labs, the development team behind top-selling NFT projects such as Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), Otherdeed from the Otherside Metaverse, and Mutant Ape Yacht Club (MAYC).

Despite being a part of the top ten (10) NFT collections by all-time sales volume, the three Yuga Labs-backed projects could not surpass the sales volume of Nakamigos within the period.

During Easter Week, Otherdeed – which is ranked sixth in the all-time rankings – generated $7.32 million in sales. BAYC and MAYC NFTs also brought in sales of around $7 million and $4 million respectively with a lower number of buyers, sales, and transactions when compared to Nakamigos.

The rise of lesser-known NFT projects

Nakamigos’ rise has surprised and impressed many NFT enthusiasts. But other relatively new projects continue to gain traction in the digital art revolution.

A great example of this is MG LAND NFTs, digital art that represents ownership of virtual land in the online world of MegaCryptoPolis (MCP).

By the end of March, when sales volume settled for proper analysis to be conducted on metrics from the first quarter of 2023, MG LAND trailed only Otherdeed, CryptoPunks, and BAYC by monthly sales volume.

MAYC, Sorare, DeGods, HV-MTL, NBA Top Shots, Meebits, VeeFriends, Moonbirds, Azuki, Axie Infinity, The Sandbox, and CloneX were all behind MG LAND in the pecking order.

Only time will tell if this new trend will continue. If it does, it could lead to a shakeup in the all-time rankings as well as global NFT market sales

New to Nakamigos

These NFTs are part of the growing trend of digital art and collectibles that are bought and sold using blockchain technology.

Each of the 20,000 Nakamigos NFT is unique and comes with its own set of characteristics and attributes, which can make them more or less valuable depending on the preferences of buyers and collectors.

Some Nakamigos NFTs also come with access to exclusive content or experiences, such as membership in a VIP club or invitations to special events.

Interested collectors can find the digital art on NFT marketplaces such as Mintable and Rarible.

As of 10:30 UTC on April 10, sales are below $20 million, and this means Nakamigos sit outside the top 500 NFT collections by all-time volume.
