SHIB the Metaverse Confirmed to Launch in 2023

Shiba Inu has confirmed that its metaverse project, SHIB the metaverse, will launch before the year is out. A recent update confirmed that developers plan to launch the virtual environment as early as December, 2023.

SHIB the metaverse set for liftoff

SHIB the metaverse is the metaverse project of the highly popular cryptocurrency Shiba Inu. Its metaverse is one of the most hotly-anticipated projects in the crypto realm, and it is quickly becoming notable in the wider tech sphere.

The launch date of SHIB the metaverse has been the topic of intense speculation in recent months as information has been drip-fed to the public. In March Shiba Inu unveiled the first sneak peek of the project at the South by Southwest (SXSW) festival, catapulting interest to a higher level.

Members of the development team have now spoken to give excited punters a firm date for their diaries.

“While all development takes time, the [metaverse] team is confident that by the end of 2023 users will have the opportunity to explore some of the areas in this fantastic world, build, design, play and develop within it,” developers said earlier this month.

“However, it should be noted that not all areas of the metaverse will be fully completed as it is an ongoing project,” they added.

The project is being developed with the aid of Hollywood special effects team The Third Floor (TTF), who initially met while working on Star Wars Episode III – Revenge of The Sith. Recent productions from the studio include Marvel’s Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings, as well as breakout Indian hit film RRR.

With such a strong pedigree, Shiba Inu fans are expecting great things from TTF and SHIB the metaverse.

The great land grab

SHIB the metaverse may not yet be ready to launch, but its virtual land is already a topic of interest. SHIB the metaverse will feature 100,595 plots of land when it is finally constructed. 10 of those plots will be given away to 10 lucky winners of the project’s most recent competition.

To take part in the competition, all readers need to do is follow the SHIB the metaverse Twitter account @mvshib and retweet this tweet.

Once the metaverse is launched, it is expected that landowners will be able to collect passive income and in-game rewards from their land. A further stated benefit is that users will be able to develop the land they have to make it more valuable over time.

This would seem to at least partially mirror some of the game mechanics of similar metaverse projects including Sandbox and Decentraland. SHIB the metaverse will seek to differentiate itself with its ultra high definition graphics and its Shiba Inu-esque avatars.
