Grease Monkey Games began as a “contract-based firm” serving worldwide vehicle manufacturers. However, in 2014 it swiftly transitioned to create original IP games.
Grease Monkey Games now has a large number of licensed relationships with automotive and aftermarket parts manufacturers such as Honda, Nissan, Toyota, Ford, BMW, and Mishimoto.
The studio’s games have received more than 45 million downloads across all platforms after over a decade of development.
Grease Monkey rationale
Grease Monkey’s vast experience in racing game production and “existing industry ties across motorsports and automobile manufacturing”. According to Animoca Brands, are the driving forces for the company’s most recent purchase.
Importantly, the acquisition of Grease Monkey Games expects to provide Animoca Brands with significant game development capabilities and expertise. With a key upcoming milestone already on the horizon: the announcement of a “major cross-platform racing game built in Unreal Engine 5” in the coming weeks.
Moreover, despite the acquisition, Grease Monkey’s present management will continue to run the firm and collaborate with the team.
