UEFA to host metaverse sports event for children

Before the UEFA Women’s Euro 2022, the governing body of football in Europe, UEFA, has stated that they will be organizing an event in the metaverse with the goal of increasing the number of girls and boys who take an interest in the sport of football.

This event will be held on June 24, 2022 in the Road to UEFA Women’s EURO Roblox game, and it will be a partnership with the Metaverse Gaming League

It is significant in that it is the first live esports league tournament to take place in a metaverse environment. In addition, it will be aired on streaming services such as Twitch and YouTube.

At the event, which has a prize pool of 500,000 Robux, there will be competition from dozens of participants. The European Union of Football Associations anticipates that the event will be a direct and genuine approach to communicate with young girls and boys on a platform that they currently use on a daily basis. In addition to the production of a video game as part of this collaboration, UEFA Football in Schools will also produce a series of educational videos that will be sent to schools around Europe.

Patrick Mead, the Chief Technology Officer of the Metaverse Gaming League, provided the following statement in response to a question regarding the impending partnership between MTG and UEFA: “In their campaign to inspire children’s love of football ahead of the Women’s Euro next month, UEFA is meeting children in the metaverse, where they spend considerable amounts of time socializing, learning, and playing. Their amazing Roblox game makes for a fantastic arena for some lighthearted MGL action, and we are thrilled to put on a fantastic esports show that is open to everyone before the competition begins in earnest.
