MSI unveiled new gaming and content creation laptops at its CES 2022
MSI unveiled new gaming and content creation laptops at its CES 2022 MSIology: Gameverse virtual event. The IT world was ablaze with interest after Meta announced that it is digging its foot further into virtual worlds for social interaction.
As a result, MSI is capitalizing on the hype by releasing a new range of metaverse-ready laptops, including the Vector GP series. In addition it includes the newest Intel H-series CPUs, up to an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 Ti GPU, and cooling technologies that push performance to new heights.
MSI Vector GP Series
The name “Vector” is a reference to the series’ unique outlook on gaming, engineering, and scientific computing, according to MSI.
There is an Intel Core i9 CPU with up to 64GB of RAM (two slots, DDR5-3200) and an Nvidia GeForce RTX 3080 GPU with 8GB of VRAM. The fact that there are two models, the Vector GP76 and the Vector GP66, is not insignificant.
The former has two display options: a 17.3-inch, 2560 x 1440-pixel panel with a 240Hz refresh rate and a 17.3-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel panel with a 360Hz refresh rate. A 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel display with a 144Hz refresh rate and a 15.6-inch, 1920 x 1080-pixel panel with a 360Hz refresh rate are also available for the Vector GP66.
Both are packed with three 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports
There are three USB 3.2 Gen 1 Type-A ports an done USB 3.2 Gen 2 Type-C port on both (DisplayPort 1.4). There are also HDMI, a mini DisplayPort, and an Ethernet port. In addition SteelSeries’ Vector GP Series has a per-key RGB gaming keyboard. It has Intel Killer Wi-Fi 6E and Bluetooth 5.2 for connectivity.
The Vector GP76 weighs 7.7 pounds and is 15.6 x 11.2 x 1 inches. In comparison, the GP66 is 14 x 10.5 x 0.9 inches in size and weighs 5.3 pounds.
We’ll know for sure whether the Vector GP series is metaverse ready once it arrives in our lab. The Vector GP series has a starting price of $1,900.
