Disney was approved for a “virtual-world simulator in a real-world venue’

This entertainment behemoth received a patent on a “virtual-world simulator within a real-world arena” on Dec 28, 2021. First submitted to the United States Patent and Trademark Office in July 2020.

The traditional idea of the metaverse has been that it resides on the internet and is accessible via virtual reality and augmented reality. The technology described by Disney, on the other hand, would bring the metaverse into the physical realm.

This is not the first time Disney has indicated its interest in the metaverse

This isn’t the first time Disney has expressed a desire to participate in the metaverse. At the business’s fourth-quarter earnings call in November 2021, CEO Bob Chapek said that the company is ready to merge physical and digital assets in the metaverse:

“In our own Disney Metaverse, we’ll be able to integrate the real and digital worlds even more closely, allowing for narrative without borders.”

In a LinkedIn essay published in November 2020. MGM Resorts International chief strategy officer Tilak Mandadi stated that his goal was to merge the digital and physical worlds.

“Connected park experiences that transcend the physical and digital barrier and open new levels of narrative are a very exciting emphasis of ours as we look to the future,” he wrote at the time.

Guests engage both inside and outside of the parks”. In additon they are one-of-a-kind, yet also sociable and linked. They’re continually evolving, so there’s always something new to learn.”
