Yuga Labs, the creator of the non-fungible token (NFT) project Bored Ape Yacht Club (BAYC), is working on a metaverse project. The company teased about this development through a tweet on March 19, noting see you on the Otherside in April.
Yuga Labs added that the project would be powered by ApeCoin
A bored ape sat on a veranda, fishing beside a body of water, according to the tweet. When he feels a tug on his rod, he pulls out a bottle with the words DRINK ME written on it. He then drinks the entire contents of the bottle. Following that, he sees a succession of incidents, one of which being a volcanic explosion. A winged guest abducts him before he can process what has happened.
The Bored Ape learns at this time that the bottle was labeled DON’T DRINK ME, but the DON’T portion was obscured by some leaves. The Bored Ape is taken to a strange world with NFTs in the Mutant Ape Yacht Club, Cool Cats, CryptoPunks, CrypToadz, Meebits, Nouns, and World of Women projects after being kidnapped.
The corporation does not provide any further information concerning the Otherside. It’s worth mentioning, though, that Animoca Brands, the company behind The Sandbox, has adopted APE for a secret project with BAYC.
Animoca Brands provided a link to a website called somethingisbrewing while announcing the relationship. On the site’s landing page, there’s a porch with neon lights spelling out FOMO, BAYC, and 305.
It’s worth noting that this is the same porch where the fishing Bored Ape sat. Experts think the firms are working on a 3D BAYC gaming experience powered by Animoca based on this information.
Yuga Labs purchased the intellectual property of Meebits and CryptoPunks
This development comes after Yuga Labs bought Meebits and CryptoPunks’ intellectual property from Larva Labs earlier this month. Individual NFT holders in both collections were to receive IP, commercial, and exclusive license rights, according to the corporation.
In doing so, the business said it hoped to foster a vibrant new community of artists and third-party developers interested in incorporating CryptoPunks and Meebits into digital and physical products throughout the world.
