Cloud DX advances health metaverse

Sheridan College will collaborate with Cloud DX on a project with Cloud XR, the company’s eXtended Reality business, to further develop the Clinic of the Future, an augmented reality (AR) platform. The partnership was made possible, according to the business, by a non-dilutive funding grant from the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council (NSERC) Applied Research and Technology Partnership (ARTP).

Cloud DX, as a significant industry partner, will collaborate with Sheridan College, the award recipient, on a portfolio of applied research projects in mobile health, health, and machine learning.

In a statement, Cloud DX co-founder and chief medical officer Dr Sonny Kohli stated, “Working with partners like Sheridan’s Center for Mobile Innovation is important to pushing the sector into the future”. Moreover, “at Cloud DX, collaborating with thought leaders like Dr. Edward Sykes helps us bring our ideas to life and assist the commercialization of new healthcare devices like our proprietary Vitaliti.”

The NSERC grant, according to Cloud DX, not only rewards Canadian technology leadership, such as its cooperation with Sheridan College. More crucially, the investment advances the MedTech business, which it describes as a “medical metaverse” where virtual and remote care, artificial intelligence (AI), and augmented reality are all present.

“Think about it,” Kohli added, “a leading specialist can now assess a patient on the opposite side of the planet; the possibilities are endless”. In addition, “the Medical Metaverse will improve healthcare access, increase efficiencies, improve patient outcomes, and much more.”

In close collaboration with business, community, and academic partners, the Sheridan Centre for Mobile Innovation (CMI) develops creative solutions to industry-relevant difficulties. Mobile, artificial intelligence/machine learning/deep learning, wearable computing, augmented/virtual reality/mixed reality, and the Internet of Things are all used in CMI’s research (IoT).
