Limitless, the parent company of Next Earth, the third most popular Metaverse application, announced the launch of a new Metaverse as a Service (MaaS) platform for worldwide organizations on Thursday.
Additionally, the corporation will begin selling digital real estate on Next Earth, a digital replica of the entire planet. 5 million digital land pieces are available for purchase through NFT-based transactions.
Following record-breaking Metaverse real estate purchases on the platform, competitor Metaverse platform The Sandbox announced land sales last year, led by hip-hop artist Snoop Dogg.
Limitless intends to promote its MaaS platform by launching a $60 million venture capital fund to assist entrepreneurs in joining Next Earth and the Limitless ecosystem. Startups that are accepted will also have access to an application programming interface (API) that will make platform development easier.
David Taylor, co-CEO of Limitless, adding, “Most [projects] in the Metaverse, I believe, are simply attempting to duplicate Second Life. Instead, we’re going to build a Metaverse intermediary layer. Any business, large or small, can connect to Next Earth via our API connections.”
The Limitless ecosystem is presently being used by brands and enterprises to obtain a larger portion of the audience.
The announcement comes as SEE Turtle started an immersive gaming campaign on Friday to generate money for environmental issues by selling digital land.
Brands who use the Next Earth platform seek to reach a large number of people. There are currently 230,000 registered users and 45,000 landowners on Next Earth.
Companies can use MaaS applications to construct virtual worlds for collaboration, training, and networking. Furthermore, many Metaverse platforms include other new technologies like blockchain and NFTs to offer a multitude of use cases.
Panelists discussed their involvement in building new technologies for the future space communications platform, as well as the potential benefits of Metaverse services for businesses, at an XR Today roundtable on the Metaverse last month.
