Metarex CEO Jeff Jaffrey, who comes from the world of traditional banking, described his path to becoming the CEO of Metarex. “I came from the corporate sector,” he explained. “Four months ago, one of my contacts contacted me. He began collecting dinosaur fossils as a private collector 15 years ago. He is a dinosaur aficionado. So, in September of last year, he approached me and asked whether I had seen what occurred with Christie’s; Christie’s auctioned the world’s first T rex fossil in October 2020,”. “And it sold for $32 million with no intellectual property rights”.

Metarex, the result of a brainstorming session.

“There was a huge commotion among the academic community after the selling of “Stan”. “They were angry that the world’s millionaires were driving up the price of fossils to a point where academia couldn’t buy them”. Due to a shortage of funding, museums are unable to spend $32 million for these types of fossils.

Metarex had planned to begin its first NFT 34,800 pre-sale on January 2, 2021. However, those plans have been slightly altered. “We’re adjusting our plans significantly since we’re announcing partnerships with DAOs and museums over the next week,” Jeff explains. The first launch will take place on January 24, with around 40,000 NFTs available.

“This is a massive collection in comparison to other NFT collections on the market, however please understand that this is not a single image or a random collection. Because they are linked to a real asset that costs a lot of money, we have a lot of NFTs.”

Jeff Jaffrey also discussed his thoughts on private ownership of dinosaur fossils, the state of crypto-currency regulation, and his top five crypto-currencies.
